About Why Trees Matter (a.k.a. the Next STEP Program)
The Next STEP Initiative of the Ohio State University Extension and OSUE’s Center at Wooster is a multi-disciplinary program focusing on the social and economic benefits of urban forests for Ohio communities and citizens, the Ohio green industry, and the furtherance of scientific literacy. Next STEP is an initiative that builds on the horticultural findings of the 1960’s OSU Street Tree Evaluation Project (STEP). Next STEP adds socioeconomic and cultural components and community-oriented urban forestry research and outreach. Next STEP has several components in various stages of development.
